An important oak table by Sir Robert Lorimer

An Important oak side table by Sir Robert Lorimer made by Whytock & Reid for Mr A Cameron Corbett (Later Lord Rowallan), Rowallan Castle, Ayrshire. The rectangular top on slow twist legs with a waved under stretcher. This important table is typical of Lorimers early style dating from 1903-06 and the slow twist legs were a motif he developed extensively in his furniture and as an architectural feature. It originally came from a sketch of a gothic table he made while on holiday with Sir William Burrell in the early 1900s. This table is illustrated in Christopher Hussey "The Work of Sir Robert Lorimer" published by Country Life 1931 plate124. More images to follow.
