A pair of very unusual mahogany armchairs

An extremely unusual pair of late 19th century mahogany armchairs of generous proportions, with simple sculptural backs and exaggerated outward scrolling arms. The upholstered seats covered in calico ready for covering and with tin linings to the bases implying that the chairs have been to the tropics at some point. The legs joined by fretwork under stretchers in the Chinese Chippendale taste.

83cm wide x 99cm high x 54cm deep
